How to enable credit card payments for invoices

Last updated: April 10, 2026

Meow invoices support three payment methods for your customers: bank transfers (ACH, wire, and international wire — always free), card payments (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express), and stablecoins (USDC, USDT, PYUSD, and USDG). Card payments require a one-time Stripe onboarding.

Enabling card payments

Card payments on Meow invoices are powered by Stripe. Onboarding is self-serve and takes just a few minutes.

  1. Go to app.meow.com/invoices/settings and open the Payments tab.

  2. Under Card payments, select Enable card payments.

  3. Complete the Stripe onboarding flow.

Most accounts are activated instantly. If Stripe requires additional information from you in the future, they'll reach out directly — Meow is not involved in subsequent compliance requests.

Do I need a Stripe account?

You don't need an existing Stripe account to get started. If you already have one, use the same email address and phone number during onboarding so Stripe can link your accounts and apply any existing pricing relationships you may have.

How card payment payouts work

When you enable card payments, you'll select a single payout account during onboarding. All card payment proceeds are paid out to that account only.

The card payment option will only appear on an invoice when its destination account matches your selected Stripe payout account. If an invoice is set to deposit into a different Meow account, the card payment option won't be shown to your customer.

Funds typically arrive in your checking account within 3 business days of payment.

ACH direct debit and card payments

ACH direct debit is not available for customers paying via the Stripe card payment flow. Customers who want to pay by ACH can do so via bank transfer, which is always available on invoices at no cost.

Payment workflows

Card payments support the same three payment workflows as bank transfers:

  1. One-time payment — customer pays a single invoice

  2. Recurring payments — after the first invoice is paid, subsequent invoices are auto-charged to the saved card

  3. Save payment method — customer saves their card for future one-time or recurring charges initiated by you

I'm an existing customer who used Airwallex for invoice payments

If your account previously used Airwallex for card payments on invoices, you'll need to complete Stripe onboarding before the card payment option becomes available on new invoices. Any existing invoices that already have card payments enabled through Airwallex will continue to work as-is — no action is needed for those.

Troubleshooting

Card payment option not showing on an invoice? Check that the invoice's destination account matches the payout account you selected during Stripe onboarding.

Stripe asking for additional documents? Stripe manages its own compliance requirements independently. Respond directly to any requests from Stripe — Meow support cannot expedite Stripe's review process.
