How do I request a wire recall?
Last updated: April 10, 2026
If you've sent a wire transfer and need to get the funds back — for example, if you sent it to the wrong recipient or for the wrong amount — you can request a wire recall. Recalls are different from cancellations: a cancellation stops a payment before it sends, while a recall is an attempt to retrieve funds that have already been sent and received by the beneficiary's bank.
How to request a recall
Contact Meow support immediately at support@meow.com or via live chat with the following details:
The wire amount
The date the wire was sent
The recipient name
The reason for the recall
Time is critical — the sooner you contact us, the better the chance of recovery.
What happens after you request a recall?
Meow submits a recall request to our banking partner.
Our partner bank sends a formal recall message through the wire network to the beneficiary's bank.
The beneficiary's bank reviews the recall request.
Important: The beneficiary bank is not legally obligated to honor a recall request, and the outcome depends on their policies and whether the recipient has already withdrawn the funds. Recall requests typically take several business days to resolve, and there is no guarantee of recovery.
Can I cancel a wire instead?
If a wire is still pending or scheduled but hasn't yet been sent, you can cancel it directly from your Meow dashboard. See Can I cancel a wire transfer? for instructions. Recalls are only needed for wires that have already been sent and received by the beneficiary bank.
What about ACH payments?
ACH payments can be disputed and reversed under certain circumstances for up to 60 days. See Understanding and Managing ACH Authorizations for details.
